As with many other issues the West has the means but not the will to effectively take care of a problem.

In far eastern calif, when illegals are caught in desert crossings, they go 2 jail for two weeks. Here, crossings are EXTREMELY RARE. Meanwhile, in parts of Arizona where they don’t feature the two week jail hold, crossings abound —they’re completely off the hook.

The bare minimum they could have done starting years ago would have been to also have the 2 week hold.

They weren’t even doing that —it was more or less a ride back the same day, or the next day. Sorta like a drop-off at school for kids.

This is not some logistical difficulty —UAV’s now present hyperEfficient ways of surveilling HUGE tracts of desert, day or night. In fact, at night the task made considerably more easy.

When she said “as secure as ever”, she was using lawyerly weasel words; the border is insecure today, and it was insecure 10 years ago.

See? She was being HONEST. It’s the “non-lie LIE”.

Border security is TECHNICALLY easier than at ANY point in world history.

IF the Mayan’s were right, it won’t do them a dam bit of good. They are still fools.

Sounds a lot like Biden’s, “A lot of jobs aren’t coming back”.

I hear Janet loud and clear: Just Give Up!

Then President Zero can concentrate on more important matters - like figuring out how to break his pledge on middle-class taxes without looking like a total phoney.

Problem is, sealing the border is more than just a wish, it's become a national security issue. Unless the citizens are supposed to ignore rapes, robberies, home invasions, disease epidemics, drug smuggling, terrorist infiltration, and all the costs incurred by allowing millions of undocumented workers to make the USA their 'home away from home'.

“The border is as secure now as it has ever been”
Napolitano will have to live with those words the rest of her tenure (may it be a short one).

You’re never going to totally eliminate murder either but that doesn’t mean we stop enforcing the laws against murder. You do whatever is possible to legally minimize the crime at issue.

For that matter, we'll never be able to totally eliminate the people who'd attempt a terrorist attack. So what the hell are we paying Napoitano for?

That makes as much sense as leaving the kitchen faucet on all the way because it still drips a little when you shut it off.

You’ll run out of room in your sink and money to pay the water bill long before you run out of water.

What if there was a private fund raising drive, (by FR?) that was tax-deductible, to finance the construction of a border wall like this?

I could be wrong, but I think Congress has appropriated money for the wall. They just won't build it. Without federal permits, it's not going forward. I also seem to recall that at least one section was built. It was quite short, and I think the cost was $3000 per linear foot.

The US government will not permit border security. They want the situation we have right now.

They are still fools.

Yep, and no further evidence of that fact is needed, either, but they just keep offering up more and more to prove just how big of fools they all really are. What a mess....

Napolitano: ‘You’re Never Going to Totally Seal That Border’

Career Democrats are such a bunch of losers. The only way they win major elections is through fraud and lawsuits.

Well, yeah. Determined people will always figure out a way around anything.

But, at this point, nailing 20% would be an improvement. And would account for thousands (10's or 100's of thousands???) of illegals.

Frankly, I'd take a page out of what's happening now. Put some teeth behind already existing laws and go after the employers. Couple a get tough approach with denying benefits to illegal aliens.

Illegals will self-deport quickly, when there's no work and no freebies. Might not need to build 100-ft walls on the border, at that point. :-)

Napolitano said, “The border is as secure now as it has ever been” but that the border will never be totally sealed.

Everybody in this administration is stupid and this one sticks out as the most stupid.

I guess they think giving amnesty to the illegals already here will shut the door!

"Build the wall. Heavily fine US businesses which employ illegal aliens. Heavily fine US real estate firms which rent or sell to illegal aliens. Enforce existing laws and deport violators."

Yes!!

But nooo, if we can't do it 100%, we're not going to do anything at all. Seriously? My cat can come up with something better than that.

With California and major parts of Arizona the newly formed suburb of Mexico I no longer give a sh@@. America is f____ed already. America is dead because of millions of idiotic mentally ill Americans that are rotten to the core and support the criminal left in Washington DC.

Surely we don’t have to donate our Federal park and other land to the drug cartels. Or do we? Since we have now told the cititzens of the US of A not to use a federal park in Arizona, I do not believe we are as protected as we were.

Sexlesstary Janet Napolitano, whose agency is charged with securing America’s borders, told an audience in Washington, D.C., in reference to the U.S.-Mexico border, “You’re never going to totally seal that border.”

Really? Make me director of Homeland Security and I will seal the border 100% within 30 days. Within 120 days there would be under 1 million illegals and in a year NONE!

You could build the border on private property with the permission of the land owners.

So what? Still must go ahead and try to stop the illegal’s from coming in. Stupid comment. Why do we continue to try and catch the ‘bad guys’ knowing we will not be 100% effective. Just more left ignorance.
