Screw Ratigan. I have a 4.25% 15-year mortgage on a house I bought in January of 2008. I refinanced from a 4.75% 30-year to a 15-year in 2009. My house has declined in value by 15% since I bought it, but since I originally put 20% down, and then rolled over the equity in my old house when I sold it, I have over 50% equity against the mortgage on my new house.

Please, Ratigan, encourage these people to not pay their mortgage. When the bank forecloses, I will buy the house, and offer to rent it to these losers at a rent which is a mere 20% premium over their prior mortgage payment.

...it is not immoral to walk away from a business deal unless you went in to the deal with the intention of defaulting.

So there is not a single contract that Ratigan has with anyone that he/she would mind them cancelling if it benefited them. (Insurance? - As long as the insurance company did not go into the arrangement intending to reject ALL claims, they can morally refuse to pay any claim they wish?)
