The Revolt Against Cronyism

What the South Carolina Republican primary means.
Just when we think we have a handle on the Tea Party, it immediately slips out of our grasp. Up until quite recently, the Tea Party was widely accepted as a racist movement made up of grumpy old white men only interested in keeping their pockets well-lined. Then, only this week, the Tea Party pulls the tea tray right from under us by helping Nikki Haley, a woman of Sikh descent, and Tim Scott, a black man, to win Republican primaries in South CarolinaSouth Carolina, of all the states in the Union! This kind of unconventional, wisdom-defying behavior just wont do. It produces consternation in the minds of those who prefer never to change theirs. Some, of course, will still not change their opinions. Many will no doubt deride Haley and Scott as mere tokens supported by the Tea Party in order to conceal their true racist motives. Or perhaps Haley and Scott will be dubbed the unwitting stooges of the Tea Party, and of the sinister corporate interests which ultimately pull all the strings behind the scenesin short, as stooges that other stooges were conned into voting for.
In the immediate aftermath of the South Carolina primary, however, two more charitable interpretations of the outcome were prominent in the media. The first is offered by those who seem to be stuck in the sixties. The victories of Haley and Scott indicate the depth of voter anger at the establishment.

Wow
This jerk really doesn’t understand us
Free, or die.
I mean it.
I’m on to them. Nikki Haley is a grumpy old, white racist man in drag and Tim Scott is a KKK’er in black face. His name Tim is the tip off. Tim, Tom. As in uncle Tom.
There’s no such thing as being “of Sikh descent”. Sikhism is a RELIGION. You are not descended froma religion — would you say someone was of Protestant descent? You can be descended from a race, national or ethnic group. She is of Punjabi/Indian descent
This is typical of our opponents. They are obsessed with condencending labels. They are devoid of any principled ideas. They truely do not understand people’s anger over government.
They are not just opponents, they are enemies against this country and what it has stood and stands for.
Do not stress them out further. Apparently, they already have enough trouble figuring out what is going on with Tea Party Movement. Piling more for them to figure out is simply mean and cruel.:-)
Yeah, we got them confused and stressed out. That is a good start.:-)
There is not one shred of evidence that the Tea Parties harbor racists, and the first and only place I’ve heard about Haley and Scott’s ethnicity is the leftist MSM-it’s only important to them.
“Yeah, we got them confused and stressed out. That is a good start.:-)”

I agree. I proves that they still don’t get it and have no idea on how to stop it.
The writer is making a point that Tea Party members want people elected on their qualifications, and not because they are connected to family and friends. Tea Party members are not hesitant to oppose Establishment Republicans in elections.
Good grief, the media is even MORE dumb than I thought....and I thought they were really stupid before. They keep the hole deeper & deeper in terms of credibility. Sheeesh!
How soon will you finish picking the fly shit out of the pepper pot...we have the socks to iron and the drawer to organize! ;-)
Ah, yes the metrosexual, bedwetting, little, freedom stealing, Chavez loving, Marx-o-Fascists are actively trying to find the appropriate disparaging bumper-sticker stereotype for the Tea Party. Unfortunately, we already have their number and it fits them well.
I believe the Tea Party also endorsed Bill Randall (NC-13), another black, conservative,Republican who won his primary bid.
Sorry that you think accurate despription of a person’s identity is nitpicking —I loathe the current tendancy — which I had until now associated with lilberalism — toward slovenly, quasi-illiterate writing.
Its not nitpicking. The liberal assumption is that a Sikh is a different race than “the grumpy white man”. Its the same kind of assumption that liberals wield when in a room of people, and they know they will automatically like all the blacks because they’re easy, they’re always democrats. To a liberal, they want easy identifiers of who to love and who to hate. Middle aged white guy with a pony tail they love; a pretty, successful mother and former governor, hate, and so on...

Then, only this week, the Tea Party pulls the tea tray right from under us by helping Nikki Haley, a woman of Sikh descent, and Tim Scott, a black man, to win Republican primaries in South Carolina -- South Carolina, of all the states in the Union! Yes, one needs to go past the first two sentences and actually read the article. It raises some very important points.
I was only kidding you. Lighten up, already!
