The first priority for sending detainees to Illinois (sooo stupid!) was to allow the gov’t to buy the steaming white elephant. Illinois spent a fortune on it and never opened it. You and I now own it and probably payed a bloated price for it.
Why does the NYT use that stupid little accent mark?

When is Grahamnesty up for reelection... I mean, replacement?
Graham/McCain need to get it on over with already...and join the democratic party.
Your an idiot, Graham....please do us all a favor and pull an Arlan Specter and reveal yourself for what you really are, kkthx. =.=
Some reasons why closing Gitmo is ridiculous:
We spent 80 million to build a state of the art prison facility that could/would cater to the Muslim religionists.
We would have to spend millions more to change the Illinois prison.
The actual prison conditions in Illinois would be harder on the inmates because it is a strictly maximum security facility.
The costs of managing and staffing the Illinois prison would escalate mightilly since you could not use military personnel in a civilian prison.
Stymied by political opposition and focused on competing priorities, the Obama administration has sidelined efforts to close the Guantánamo prison, making it unlikely that President Obama will fulfill his promise to close it before his term ends in 2013. When the White House acknowledged last year that it would miss Mr. Obama's initial January 2010 deadline for shutting the prison, it also declared that the detainees would eventually be moved to one in Illinois. But impediments to that plan have mounted in Congress, and the administration is doing little to overcome them.I don't recall this being harped about every night on the network "news" broadcast -- but of course, I no longer waste my time on those.
