Even without the reverse, it is very revealing how he feels. Of course, we already knew that.
During the campaign, there were various muffled reports (one from MoDo, IIRC) that the campaign plane was filthy and smelled. I seem to recall other reports of bad smells accompanying the entourage.
Of course, bad body smells or bad filthy mess smells smell very good to rodents and insects, hence, sometimes, their appearing.
Just sayin’.
