“Women in their forties who elected not to have children are unfulfilled and are, what, cat farmers?”

Many if not most will deny that they are unfulfilled, but they know the truth. The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.

You really think the only way a woman can be “fulfilled” is to pop out some babies? For some of us, the organ of fulfillment is in the skull, not the pelvis.

Gosh such ignorance. Sorry to disappoint but if you need kids to fulfill yourself then that was a very selfish thing to do to a child. One should learn to fill their lives and not depend on someone else to do that for them.

Women who missed the natural childbearing time to have children, as a conscious choice, may not realize the emptiness in the midst of that time... it will hit in 20-30 years... at the end of it all.

This is nothing against those who know they are unfit to be a parent or those who cannot have children, just those that chose not to because something else is much more important. Same goes for women who choose to put their young children in childcare at six weeks. When it is too late, the light will go on.

If you want to run an outcome comparison, visit your neighborhood nursing home, say, on a weekend. Observe the residents who have children, grandchildren and great-grand children coming in to visit, and those who have no family.

And they can't even farm cats there either.
