Oh, wow! This will make the heads of the communists in La Raza explode. I love this woman.
There is a whole genre of Mexican music created around narcotrafficants. It romanticizes a cruel and inhumane trade - and is very popular among the general population in Mexico.
They’ll crucify her for the word ‘most’, so she and her staff need to pull together all the stats they can re: crime rate by illegals and get the word out.
It may not be ‘most’, but it’s certainly a very large percentage. Add in traffic accidents and DUIs, and there’s an even bigger number.
I try to be careful with words like all, always, most, every, etc. It is difficult to say with assuredness what “most” illegal immigrants are doing (aside from breaking immigration laws).
She should’ve said “some” or “many”.

Your title isn’t helping the cause.
This is what it should of been:
Th motivation of a lot of the illegal immigrants is to enter the United States to look for work, but that drug rings press them into duty as drug mules.
It would be hard to disprove “most”, unless they all volunteer to come forward to be counted and evaluated.
It's true. Tar me, too. Feds and DEA hate to face truth.
Actually, ALL of them have committed at least one crime by crossing the border illegally. So she can justify the claim that most of them commit other crimes from that fact alone. And it's not a trivial point.
What the Governor said was that “a majority” were being used as drug mules under pressure from the drug cartels. Majority means more than half. Can you prove that her statement is not accurate?
>> It would be hard to disprove most, unless they all volunteer to come forward to be counted and evaluated.
It is also hard to prove “most” ... and since she made the statement, the burden is going to be placed on her to show its truth.
Even the most ardent illegal immigrant supporters can’t argue with “some”.

Though I understand your point, it seems clear that she was talking about criminal activity other than the violation of immigration laws ... otherwise she’d have said “all”, not “most”.

My title IAW FR rules was exactly as it was from the paper.
I could easily see how as part of a $600 smuggling fee you are required to carry 20lbs of pot in your backpack as you trek across the desert to get to the border. You refuse to carry drugs then the smuggling/guide fee is $1000. I could see this as a possible scenario
I would say “a lot” but not criticize the gov for using “most”. I bet most illegals pay their way by muleing (sp?) drugs.
Even if they are forced to mule, they were not forced to come up here in the first place. I guess, you just have to take the consequences of your decisions (I know, I’m being silly).

But, you see my point?
That’s exactly what the AP wanted you to post.
