Some weeks ago, on the TV program “Army Wives”, a segment included a number of the young men and women re-enlisting.

During the enlistment ceremony, while the enlistees were repeating the oath of service, the CO reading the oath oddly included something to the effect “...defend the Constitution of the United States, and obey all orders from the President...”. That might not be it exactly, but it's pretty damn close.

That moment gave me pause. I wasn't aware that was in the oath. Of course, this is Hollyweird we're talking about, and they miss no chance to indulge in revisionism and agenda-adhering gobbledegook.

If I'm wrong on this, please call me to carpet, and I'll apologize.

Non-officers say the “obey” clause, officers do not. Officers only swear to uphold the constitution. Very interesting how the wording was crafted. You can Bing it, or look in Wikipedia for the text.
