Obama’s on the verge of outright dictatorship - ALAN KEYES
WorldNetDaily ^ | June 25, 2010 | Alan Keyes

Posted on 06/25/2010 8:07:30 AM PDT by EternalVigilance

Throughout his political career, Obama has consistently declared his view that the Constitution's purposeful restraint of government power is obsolete. ...the White House, he and his faction have signaled their intent to circumvent, undermine or simply set aside the authority of the U.S. Constitution. Both here and in postings on my blog I have repeatedly had occasion to remark upon the design for despotism that has been evident in their actions.

Now "eight Republican senators … are warning that the Obama administration is drafting a plan to 'unilaterally' issue blanket amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants as it struggles to win support in Congress for an overhaul of immigration laws." This represents the decisive step beyond derelict law enforcement. Not content merely to ignore the laws the legislature has properly and constitutionally made, Obama signals the intention to undertake unilateral executive action that alters the clear terms and intention of the established laws, entirely without the constitutionally determined consent of the people. This will be a blatant and presumptuous usurpation of legislative power. This is not just dereliction, it is lawless tyranny. It is outright dictatorship.

Constitutionally exercised, the executive power represents the force of law. Once divorced, however, from constitutional provisions for ascertaining the consent of the people, it asserts instead the law of force, the unjust rule that might makes right. In effect, just laws fall silent, and all that speaks are the government's instruments of force and intimidation, imposing rules that have no more warrant of lawfulness than the command of a terrorist over those he holds, by threat of violence, hostage to his will. The forces under the authority of the presidency become in that case a weapon, loaded and cocked, held to the head of the American people.

If what you are saying is true, then we all should just give up and do what they want? I don’t think so. Not this old man.

We’ve already put up with a lot. Nothing has happened, so Obama pushes on.

BINGO!! The death care bill was the final nail in the coffin. They lied, cheated, bribed and passed it. Not a whimper. The sky is the limit now and I can’t say I blame them. We have no one to blame but ourselves. A coup without a whimper. Pretty astonishing really.

"I think that McChrystal was fired for insubordination, correct?"

Refusing to obey a proper order of a superior? When did that happen?

"•Insubordination is a deliberate and inexcusable refusal to obey a reasonable order which relates to an employee's job function. The refusal may be openly stated or it may be a silent witholding of services. Merely protesting an assignment is not insubordination."

“will the troops obey his orders?”

With people like Elana Kagan on the supreme court there will be more leftists in the military than ever before. They won’t be as skilled as the good troops but they will be very brutal, especially towards unarmed women and children.

he will keep pushing until there is civil war.

I used to believe that too. Now I believe never in a million years will it happen. Hugo Chavez could take over and we would write letters and have tea parties.

“If Obama follows through with this, he’ll get a lot of people killed. Americans won’t put up with this again. It didn’t work last time and won’t work this time. The House needs to start impeachment proceedings.”

That’s just dream, not a reality. Only a few will stand up and they will be quickly eliminated. It will be like any other third world cesspool. People will be too busy trying to survive financially and put food on the table to do anything about the rising regime. That’s why the first goal of this administration was to increase the national debt and destroy the economy!

The entire world is about to fall into unimaginable darkness and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.

That would only last for a few minutes.

The life sentence in Leavenworth would last .... a lifetime!!!

I want the penalty to be as serious as can be. Leavenworth means we have to pay to keep him alive, not something I want to do.

Hey, I'm only repeating what little I've picked up about this here on FR.

Wouldn't an insubordination also encompass insolence, or a challenge to presidential authority? I don't think that the question here was whether or not the General was obeying orders, I think that it was more a question of the pervasive attitude, at least as reported by RS.

Please don't misunderstand me - I agree with McChrystal's opinions, I just think that he picked the wrong venue to voice them in. For instance, (and this is the best analogy I can cone up with) if I think my company management is staffed by idiots and mention it to a couple of co-workers over beers after work....that's substantially different from standing up and loudly announcing it at the next all-hands company meeting.

The former is grousing and all grunts do it. The latter is a firing event, IMHO.

Like I said in my previous post, what the General did, just doesn't make sense. Unless there's forces at work here that we don't know about (which is entirely likely)....

When death care was passed by bribes, lies, cheating, deals behind locked doors, and there was barely a whimper, that told me all I needed to know and I’m sure it was all they needed to know. After all the tea parties, angry town hall meetings, it passed and there was a week of outrage then nothing.
Hell no don’t give up but you are doing what they want. Executive order after executive order, czars, taking over banks, GM, ramming through unconstitutional bills... wake up and smell the coffee. Did you watch Beck yesterday? I truly believe we will soon be like Venezuela or Cuba. There is NO question Barry is a Marxist and has always surrounded himself by Marxists and still does. The problem is that they are now in the executive branch. A bloodless coup is on a fast track.
If the people ever decide to really take a stand, I’ll be here but until that happens, we are heading on out of her to our vacation home to live for a while. I want good health care and I refuse to fund this in any way shape or form. I stated here over a year ago that if it passed, I was out of here and I meant it.

It is the legions of armed federal functionaries that will be our opposition

I know that neither of you guys asked for my opinion, but I think that you might be wrong on the opposition to worry about.

The one who causes you trouble is not going to be some armed Federal thug that kicks in your door at 3am. Well, maybe ultimately, but there are a whole lot of steps that need to happen before we get to that point.

No, I think that problems are going to be caused by the bureaucracy. It'll be the nice older lady in HR that brings in cookies for everyone on Friday...."Ichabod1, look, I need to get this Obamacare form filled out this afternoon. It's Friday, just get it done so we can all go home early." Or, it will be the next door neighbor that "helpfully" mentions your gun collection to the nosy census worker. And so on.

As much as I wish it were so, there won't be a single, armed face to the problems this country has. That would be easily to defeat. Nope, this problem is much more insidious - try telling your employer to go to hell when they want a dozen health-related questionnaires filled out, or telling off your family doctor of 20 years because "they're just following orders" and "need a little more info from you". And So on.

These are the things that keep me up at night. For instance, I can quit *a* job (and in fact, did, because they were unnecessarily intrusive among other things), or find *a* new doctor, but sooner or later, I'll run out of jobs, and new doctors. Bureaucracy just grinds you down....slowly, but it never quits.

I haven’t seen enough of the rough and tumble Sarah that got rid of the good ol’ boys in Alaska. Sure, she says the right things, but she seems pretty dainty on the campaign trail. I’m thinking someone like Chris Christie (who says he’s not ready) would be perfect. Someone who will get in the adversary’s face and punch back hard.
