When the Fayetteville, Ark., Gay Pride Parade steps off on East Street Saturday on its way to the Wal-Mart parking lot, it will be led by a young man who has made a career out of fighting for gay rights.
Make that a young boy. Will Phillips, the grand marshal, is 10 years old, and his presence has thrust Fayetteville's Gay Pride Parade into the national spotlight.
... It's typical a low key non event.
But the selection of young Will, who last November refused to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school to show his support for gay rights, has changed all that. This year the parade has drawn national attention, and it's promising to tread the line between farce and confrontation.
The American Family Association, based in Tupelo, Miss., has called Will's selection to be grand marshal a form of child abuse, and it has called on the citys mayor to cancel his plans to issue a proclamation celebrating homosexual behavior and gay pride.
We believe that it goes beyond the pale for adults to exploit a 10-year-old child for dark political purposes, said Bryan Fischer, the director of issue analysis at AFA. He is too young to understand. There is nothing about homosexual conduct to be proud of and much to be ashamed of.
The AFA, according to Fischer, has sent an action alert to its members in Arkansas, and he says they have deluged the mayors and city councils office with e-mails asking him to stop this charade. Though there are no plans to actively protest at the parade, Fischer said, as of noon Thursday our records show that the mayor and city council had received 12,300 e-mails asking them to stop the parade.

I'd bet his PARENTS are pushing the "gay" agenda!
This boy REFUSED to recite the Pledge of Allegiance because it says all men are created equal, but gays dont have the same rights as everyone else. That, the boy says, is why he has become an ambassador of gay rights.
Will, who in March received the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) award for his stand, has complained that his support of gay rights has caused him trouble at school and that he has been called a gay wad by other students. That prompted comedian newscaster Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, to hire professional wrestler Mick Foley to protect Phillips this weekend.
If I find out that anybody has hassled this young man or teased him or called him a wad of any sort, I and perhaps a few of my friends will come to his school and bring a world of pain, Foley warned.
Even within the gay alliance in Arkansas, Will’s role has sparked tension. In reaction to the AFAs charges that children who attend the parade would be in danger, organizer Joney Harper said: We are not San Francisco ... New York ... were pretty much a family affair, so it is pretty safe to be there.
That remark prompted other gay groups to attack him for implying that children might not be safe at Pride gatherings in San Francisco or New York.
As we have been saying for a very long time, the gays can't be trusted with children, and here's evidence.
Perhaps Will is a homosexual dwarf.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see where it says “all men are created equal” in the pledge.
Is NAMBLA sponsoring it?
Bad enough to celebrate a ten-year-old for thinking like a ten-year-old, but when adults do it it really isn't funny.
They won’t be satisfied until everyone “accepts” their filthy & ungodly choices.

***When the Fayetteville, Ark., Gay Pride Parade steps off on East Street Saturday****
Wht the hell!, I will warn my family to STAY AWAY from Fayetteville this weekend! And I thought it was bad when th razorbacks played in town!
Get out of Arkansas as fast as possible!
Hmm, just about the right age to be “broke in” just like the Dirkshing boy in Rogers, Arkansas about 10 years ago!
Here’s a simple solution. Find a different grand marshal.
Too late. I lived in Fayetteville 40 years ago. It was a hot-bed (pun intended, I suppose) of gay activism even then.
Years ago, every time something like this would occur in California, the stupid would jump on here and elsewhere telling everyone to get out fast....
Now all this garbage is happening in their own back yards....lol
Yeah how very liberal
I hope someone has notified Will’s parents that he will be used in this parade.
Will Phillips ‘parents’ are attention whores...
They have always taken him to their gay-friendly protests. They make it sound like he just up and thought of it on his own one day. Not true.

When asked to stand for the Pledge...
Will, in his words, snapped.
“She got a lot more angry and raised her voice and brought my mom and my grandma up,” Will said. “I was fuming and was too furious to really pay attention to what she was saying. After a few minutes, I said, ‘With all due respect, ma’am, you can go jump off a bridge.’ “
His parents were called. They arrived promptly. The principal explained the situation, his refusal to stand for the Pledge, and his telling his substitute teacher to go jump off a bridge. His mother heard Will’s side and turned to the principal.
“Well,” she said, “I think your teacher owes my son an apology. When can we expect this?”
The principal refused to make the sub apologize.
Laura Phillips posted the exchange on Twitter.
His parents do have a history of gay-friendly protest and the family has many gay friends.

Will Phillips Shines at GLAAD Media Awards
GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios told Advocate.com that the evening represented an evolution in the mission of GLAAD as he discussed the organizations work on the red carpet before the awards show.
Phillips took the stage at the Times Square Marriott accompanied by his parents to accept the award for Outstanding TV Journalism Segment for Why Will Wont Pledge Alliance on CNN. Comedian Sandra Bernhard and actress Sarah Paulson presented the award.
My voice is small, but has gone far, and with hope has done much good, said Phillips. I think the bully pulpit of your office could go farther and with help do much more.
Thank you again, and to quote a great modern day thinker, Live long and prosper, said Phillips, as he gave the Vulcan salute popularized by Mr. Spock on Star Trek.
