Well, would change that a bit:

Betty's call to Feminism began with her communist roots; and she was an active and influential participant of American Communist movement. The 'Feminine Mystique' was cleverly enriched by Betty's world view and it created the 'tidal wave' of mainstream Leftism/Socialism in America. Interesting that her Communist commitments were never seriously made note of, until after her death.
All to say; Feminism began with an ugly side; both by it's author; and it's 'communist' influences, cleverly embedded.
(Betty was questioned by McCarthy in House Hearings per Un-American Activities as well - but this not ever mentioned on her FM book jacket or book reviews or her early bio info, for that matter.)
