I was there for what I’m talking about...note that I’m not talking about the jungle gramps. I’m talking about back here in the “real world”, as they called it, when the fellers that were bums before the war were bums after the war. There were lots of those types. And lots of them joined the military back in the day. They did so cuz it was a guarantee back then. Not so anymore. And that is a fact.

You know...I’ve sat back here and atually read the rhetoric coming from you in this discussion, and I am so glad you have the right to express your opinion...You have been butting heads with the very folks who sacrificed to give you that freedom to do so...

We respect that right, but I and many others will dissagree with your statements because of its listless disparagy and lack of any respect for the gift you have been given to live in this country...

I can only assume you were at one time willing to serve our country, and you were turned away, that created a bitterness and a chip on your shoulder that is apparent with your commentary so far...And that would be a shame if it is true...

If it is not the case, then I would suggest you dissengage from this thread and respect the forum and those participating in it...

And that right there is a fact...I really hope you do take a break from this thread...

In the fall of 1982 I spent months trying to get into the naval aviation program. I was competing with MBA’s and engineers from MIT. When I finally failed the flight physical for the last time, I tried to get a surface warfare officer slot. They were booked for about 12 months. I had two years of ROTC and a four year degree. I was nowhere near the top of the list.

I scored the highest of anyone in my region on the naval aviation aptitude test.

Not exactly ne’er do wells and layabouts. The people have come to know from all branches are some of the smartest and hardest working men and women I have ever met.
