Looks like he’s realized he’s met his betters.

Looks like he met his betters and a moderator...lol. I can’t imagine what makes one so hateful and insulting towards a couple of generations of servicemen. I gave 12 good years of my life and worked with the cream of the crop. Yes, there were some dopes, but there are some everywhere. Man, he pissed me off.

Shhhh you'll hurt Newt Ginrich and Dick Cheney's feelings....
At least they could have found a National Guard outfit to hide out in a la Danny Quail and a certain Texan.
To: investigateworld
By "a certain Texan" I presume you're referring to G. W. Bush.
Joining the Air Guard to fly the F-102 in order to escape Vietnam is like getting all your teeth pulled in order to avoid getting a cavity filled.
The F-102 was probably more effective at killing Americans than the VC were.

...bennies were the first known drugs in suburban america and they came by way of the military.Explain why I was seeing old black-and-white movies in the mid 1960s warning about the evils of heroin and Demon Weed.
I started Basic Training on 29 June 1970 and left Active Duty on 31 August 1979.
99% of those I served with were decent, honest, competent and hard-working.
You're dead-wrong.

I've talked with several (retired) F-102 pilots at the Evergreen Air Museum, (Home of the Spruce Goose, in McMinnville, Oregon). They stated the F-102 was safe as any war plane could be.
But if one were to try and use it as a dog fighter, it would hurt you. It was designed to get up high in a hurry and launch a Nuke at an incoming squadron of bombers, then turn and get outta Dodge.

They stated the F-102 was safe as any war plane could be.Given the era, that's a pretty low bar.
30% of them either crashed or were shot-down over Vietnam.
There are many things to disparage George Bush about.
"Draft Dodger" is not one of them.

I love the homage to A Boy and his Dog in the last photo. Classic book, classic movie.
