I’d be sorry if you are right, as I am hoping that Gen. McCrystal’s departure from office will liberate him to do just that — tell the truth. Can we not hope that he will? Are you aware of reasons to think he will not?

Yes, he will be silent for the troops IMO, he honors the office of POTUS, even if not the current Office Holder. It has been a strained relationship for both of them, but God and Country are deeply instilled.
Obama has more than enough people ready to take him out with the citizenry. Piling on will do no good.
