Did McCrystal actually seek out Rolling Stone?

I hope not. McCrystal's staff should have recognize this guy (a former Newsweek hack) as an opportunist.

Newsweek Correspondent Proposes Book On Fiancée's Death In Baghdad — Three Weeks Later

Newsweek Baghdad correspondent Michael Hastings' book proposal sold last Tuesday for $500,000 to Scribner, a publishing source told FishbowlNY Thursday. The book, about Hastings' experiences working as a young journalist in Iraq, focuses on the author's relationship with 28-year-old Andrea "Andi" Parhamovich, a civilian consulting with NGO National Democratic Institute in Baghdad who was killed January 17, 2007 in an ambush there.

Of course, Algeria didn’t score in any of its three games. A cynic might note that all the US needed was to manage one goal in order to beat them.

I wonder where McChrystal stands on Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell.

Is he a stumbling block to the lavender military?

NBC News reporting Obama may not decide McChrystal’s fate today.

It's a Newsweak article, so "grain of salt".

snip...
Can you explain how the article came about—what was the pitching and reporting process?
I was Baghdad correspondent for NEWSWEEK for two years, and I left the magazine after covering the elections. I wrote a piece for GQ before Obama took office that raised some serious questions about the direction we were taking in Afghanistan. So it was something I wanted to be writing about. I saw General McChrystal and his new strategy as a way to look at our Afghan policy to see if it’s working or if it’s a totally insane enterprise. I met with editors at Rolling Stone, they seemed into the idea, so I e-mailed McChrystal’s people. I didn’t think I was going to get any access at all. It’s one of those strange journalistic twists. They said yes, come on over to Paris to spend a couple days with us.

"Does anyone really think he'll make a decision this quickly?"

The decision was made long before the meeting. The General is toast.

Obama's staff is now furiously working on the spin which was supposed to be televised about 10 minutes ago.

Of course not. The clown can’t make decisions without testing which way the political winds are blowing. And he wants to be sure he has another General at the ready for the introduction.

Also, the problem would be he may have to dither through another military campaign season if a new general is brought in with a new strategy.

NBC News reporting Obama may not decide McChrystal’s fate today.

WTH?! On the other hand...the media already told us McC submitted his resignation yesterday, which he denied doing this morning...so we should take it all with a grain of salt.

nobama is probably waiting for the swelling on his jaw to go down or for them to find matching cosmetics for the black eye. Fool!

Today, I am wondering just who is actually responsible for the new “roe” in Afgh. Some seem to think these are the work of McC., but how do we know these didn’t come from the WH?

Can we track down just who decided on these? It might shed some light on the FUBO situation over there.

Thank you for that warning. I’m glad I didn’t turn on the TV. Rush will have it all on his show. I’ll wait for that. God bless General McChrystal. A real man.
