WASHINGTON - At a precarious moment in the war in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama prepared to hear his top war commander explain biting published complaints about the commander in chief and his aides. Even before their showdown, the White House's rebuke of Gen. Stanley McChrystal suggested it would be hard for him to save his job.
Ahead of his meeting with the president, McChrystal arrived at the Pentagon for meetings, including once scheduled with Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
On his arrival, he denied to NBC News that he's offered his resignation. "Come on, you know better than that. No!"

> Joe Klein! ...your source in the White House sucks!! Or that source may have now been exposed.
That's how you'd discover who your leak is — spread
disinformation from the top and see how it leaks out to the Press.

Wow, that picture is amazing.
An American General answering to Kenyan Muslim, intentionaly grinding the American Military into dust.
Just fascinating, isn't it?
In a word, Historic.

"Would any of you want to be tasked with implementing Obamas withdrawal from Afghanistan? You would forever be linked with losing the war in Afghanistan, and that is what is going to happen by setting political deadlines rather than military ones. Who wants to be the captain of a sinking ship?"
If he fires him (and I think he will), most likely the only one that will take the job will be his deputy commander. I can't imagine any outside General with the proper qualifications would want to come into this without demanding some changes first. And we know, that's not going to happen...
A true leader would take this opportunity to not only fire McChrystal, but bring a whole new team into Afghanistan, get rid of the arbitrary withdrawl date and have a meeting with Karzai to brief him on what is going on. Possibly even go to Afghanistan to meet with Karzai. We know that Obama is not a true leader so none of this will happen. He'll fire McChrystal, hire his Deputy Commander and things will go along as they are now. God I hope by some miracle that it's enough to win...

This is like throwing a five gallon can of gas on the fire.
It should be entertaining to watch. Seeing anyone stand up to the messiah is encouraging IMO.

How about a fly on the face of the Prez? You’ve seen that hilarious picture, right?

A cowardly thug girly-man pimp surrounded be warriors would be intimidated, wouldn’t it?

Seems to me CNN and other outlets loved having retired generals on to second-guess and criticize GWB. Wesley Clarke was on so much I thought he had his own show over at CNN. Now, sll of a sudden, a general is not supposed to criticize the CIC? Smells like a double-standard to me.

Yes I have seen it on Drudge. Pretty funny!! The fly was the one that got the disease in that encounter.

"He should have resigned and stole Obamas thunder."
That would be one way of handling it, and it probably has a lot of merit. But, on the other hand, oblammo firing the head of the Afghan operation over a petty little article just adds to hussein's reputation of incompetence.
For military and chain of command reasons, the General should be repremanded, but changing commanders at this point might be unwise.

That picture there is why I spoke to my son, the day before his 18th birthday earlier this month.
He is forbidden from joining the Military until we have a Natural Born Citizen commanding the Army. I will not allow my son to become cannon fodder for a Kenyan citizens entertainment between golf outings.

Look at that face.
It just bleeds contempt for Americans and their country.
He really hates us.
