Where Ramsay went wrong is the time of Smith's parent's death & his subsequent guardians & the fact that Smith was sent overseas to study at the request of the society in which he was a member of. At his coming of age, instead of bringing him back, the society sent Smith to further study under Franklin who was at that time overseas.
