J.D. Huckster (WSJ attacks J.D. for McCain)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 2010-06-22 | John Fund

In his August Senate primary against John McCain, former Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth touts himself as "Mr. Conservative." But in 2007, after losing his House seat the previous year, the former talk show host rented himself out as a pitchman in a TV infomercial recruiting viewers to spend at least $1,000 for "seminars" on how to apply for federal grants they wouldn't have to pay back.

Any newspaper that would manipulate stocks on their board like the WSJ did a few months ago; it doesn’t surprise me.

McCain's a man, Hayworth’s a sleazy salesman.

If only McCain had fought like this during the presidential election. But no, he saves it for Republicans.

>> McCain’s a man, Hayworth’s a sleazy salesman.

They BOTH suck. Neither one is a conservative.

It’s too damn bad that we’re always forced to choose the lesser of the two evils.

It’s not an attack if it’s true.

You are right, of course, but I’ll take JD’s sleaze over McCain’s sleaze. With McCain, everything is up for sale, whatever it takes for him to get his next fifteen minutes. Not being a resident of Arizona, I’ll leave it up to Arizonians to find a candidate who isn’t sleazy.

So he did a commercial while working as a radio talk show host. That makes him an evil capitalist pig?

Hayworth sometimes voted for excessive spending? Every Congressman has done that.

The difference between Hayworth and McCain is that McCain’s loyalty is very clearly to the Left. If elected, Hayworth will owe everything to conservatives and may retain that loyalty.

The tone of these comments on FR have sort of turned nuetral on the McCain / Hayworth race. Before McCain’s attacks everyone was for Hayworth. McCain’s negative campaign is working.

On the merits of the two I’m clueless . . . not in AZ and not paying detailed attention.

I am in Az. You're observations are correct.

My description of McCain's Campaign:

McCain's negative campaign lies are working.
