NBC’s chief Pentagon reporter, Jim Mik(however you spell it) says the Pentagon is not inclined to fire McChrystal.

The Pentagon may not be the decision maker in this.

This is odd. Someone in the military is telling the press it was McChrystal's decision to go to Washington.

From The Washington Post:

Lt. Col. Joseph Breasseale, a U.S. military spokesman, said McChrystal called Biden and other senior administration officials Tuesday morning in reference to the article. "After these discussions, he decided to travel to the U.S. for a meeting," the spokesman said in an e-mail.
