I did notice that the article in the WSJ stressed that all of McChrystal's aides were "anonymous". Perhaps his strategy is to fall on his sword and save his staff.

I'd like to see McChrystal stand up for what he said and say "Hell yes, I meant it - because of A), B), and C)", and stick by his guns.

If he meant it, but won't stick to it, he's spineless.

If he said it and didn't mean it, he's worthless.
