Sprinkled in among the headlining technologies represented at the expo were small companies with ideas you may never have heard of, technologies that have found their way into niche markets and that are described below. As congressional staffers questioned the representatives from these companies, cost was one of the primary concerns. Again and again, the salespeople made the same pitch: their technologies, which tend to be more expensive up front, would pay for themselves in the long run.

"Alternative energy technologies you've never heard of"

And hopefully never will.

"We've never been injured by a photon spill," said Rep. Jay Inslee of Washington State, referring to the virtues of solar energy."

Oh Yeah?, try staring at the sun a few hours Jay and see what those photons do for you.

Alternative Energy from the Brain Trust in Washington DC

Green energy! Green Power!

Everyone can own the newest Government Motors car which runs on cow patties. Super fuel efficient.

Cow patties $1.00 a piece or $10 per dozen. Get them at this price before they go up. Store them in your trunk till you need them.

Evergreen Tree Car Air Fresheners ... Etra!

Wait until that Congress_Idiot & the world experiences a large solar flare!
You will have photons spilling all over the place !
Last time we had a “big one” you had “sparking” on telegraph poles ! Wonder what kind of “sparking” Internet servers will do ?

With solar power you have the polar opposite of a “photon spill” !
Not enough photons and with not enough regularity to do anymore then light a “few light-bulbs”.

Anyway from any form of electric power generation you got to move it to the consumer. 100 watts of power in (be it solar, nuke, oil or coal) doesn't mean 100 watts of power at the consumer end!

Roughly 40% of power is lost in transmission !
Further you send it, the more you lose !

Prove by actual example that it works and is economically worthwhile without subsidies or tax breaks.

Don't force it on us, if it makes good sense it will happen.
If it doesn't, it won't and that's OK too.
