They can put up state and municipal parks as collateral.

Nothing close to what the Feds have locked up.

The answer from the American taxpayer is: DENIED!!!

Wishful thinking, I am afraid. Truth is Obama has already pumped 9.7 billion into the state to pay unemployment.

Let’s try the shock therapy.

As a matter of Machiavellian politics, Obama has little reason to risk supporting a California bailout. CA is a deeply “blue” state (although Boxer and Brown may be in trouble THIS year) in little risk of voting GOP in 2012. So what’s the reward for Obama if he burns precious (and dwindling) political capital bailing out a state for its own overspending?

Preparation must be made, however, for the inevitable howling protest that the collapse was the Republicans’ fault.

Get serious, we have a Republican Governor, or didn't you know that. McClintock warned us, but we kept screaming, "But he can win!"

If the Kalifornia pilot program works well, maybe we can get some foreign investors, and expand the Parks for Solvency program to the FEDERAL level. :-)

What’s the sale date of CA to Mexico?

Bears repeating:

>> I seriously think that this is the next step, make a currency note with his picture on it!

I respectfully submit that there are Obama-worshipping neighborhoods in every major city in America where a smooth talker could actually pass a bill with his picture on it as legal tender.

Your basics: Governments running out of money, gov’t dependent people not getting their welfare, those people get violent, general upheaval, government trying to print their way out of it, hyper-inflation, general civil unrest, collapsing infrastructure, etc. Then what? Who knows. One of two general things will happen: We get our act back together as a country after some real pain, or we devolve into a third world thugocracy of whatever label.

As you know, 0bama wants a thugocracy. He will get rid of the American flag when/if he can.

As a 30 year California resident, I'd be more than angry if we got Federal Funds. There's still plenty to cut in this state. For example we could get rid of the entire California Air Resources Board. This would save well over 1 billion a year in direct costs and many billions more in ancillary costs. We can make students at UC and CSU pay what the students in the other states pay for tuition and costs at public universities. We can stop paying 10 billion a year for the cost of illegal (and legal) immigration.

I don't think the people in the other states would fancy to having to bail out spend thrift California. That's nothing short of outrageous and besides if California was bailed out, New York and all the other liberal states would need to be bailed out as well.

No, Californians must be made to pay for their stupidity. They have elected one idiot after another to the state legislature and at least 3 horrible governors since Jerry Brown. And now they just might put the idiot back into office. The only people who don't deserve to be punished are the 35-45% of people who are conservative and fiscally responsible. But now these productive people are outnumbered and there's no way they can make up for the costs of the other 60% of parasites. Shame on California. Shame, eternal shame.

What do you see happening

Long hot summer, when the free money stops coming the riots will soon follow:

All it will take is the right spark: a racially charged arrest, a accident involving a child, a police raid on a hot, crowded location ... these have all set off giant riots before.

This time the cops might just stay home and protect their families.

I think the cops were pretty passive during the LA riots, which after all were timed to start with the King beating verdict. Pretty much everyone who lived in LA thought there would be riots. The Police (I believe) chose not to wade into the middle of the black ghetto. Thus the appalling scenes like the Reginald Denny brick assault - seen on live TV, but no police arriving even after 10 minutes of coverage. (Florence Blvd. where that took place is in the absolute center of LA.)

Yeah, I know, I know. But you and I BOTH know that Ahhnold is little more than a rubber stamp Republican; a sotr of Formica veneer that Democrats in California put in place so as to fool stupid people into believing that Republicans still have control of something in the State.

WE know he’s no more than just a member of the political castrati, but consumers of “news” via common media neither know, nor do they care. They have no impetus to investigate beyond the Pronouncements of Truth dropped from the mouths of their favorite electronic heralds.

Only when the Reality they FEEL fails to mesh with the Pronouncements of Truth do any number of the stupid ever recognize a total disconnect, stir from their mental haze, and begin to entertain notions that they MIGHT not have gotten all the facts; and — sadly — I think only a total system failure in this State will create such a disconnect.

Budget analysts say Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has no choice but to ask Washington for bailout funds, and that Washington has no choice but to agree because not bailing out the Golden State could put the entire U.S. economy at risk.

Here we go again. How many times have we heard this crap in 2008? All this bailout will do is keep the status-quo intact, and the same problems will only worsen over time for the parties to demand another bailout.
