Military officials have locked down the Lakehurst Naval Air Station after reports of shots being fired by a perpetrator.
Currently, a manhunt with a K-9 unit is under way for a man who jumped the naval station's fence.
Authorities are also looking for a FedEx truck that came onto the base without delivering a package. Allegedly the driver is in posession of a .38 handgun.

Thirty years ago, the Air Station's Fire Chief was Gus Forte. As an Ocean County Firefighter I trained under him. I remember crawling through the catapult tunnel filled with smoke. Damn claustrophobic.
It's a somewhat open base located in the now northern section of the Jersey Pine Barrens. A lot of sand roads and trails. Hikers easily wander in, albeit not unnoticed.
