The whole “no steel structure building ever collapsed by fire” line just shows how stupid they were. I can’t remember who it was, but we have one FReeper who was a fire investigator and posted links to dozens upon dozens of similar structured buildings collapsing in a fire, including one church where you can see the metal rafters twisted and warped by the heat of the fire- a regular structure fire mind you, nothing as dramatic as the jet fuel fire at the twin towers.
Yes, the stupidity of the truthers was laughable. Anyone who knows anything about the fire service, structural integrity or properties of steel knew right away what took place. I’ve seen very large steel roof beams twisted like pretzels after a major fire, retired from fire service.
The heat does not twist or warp the steel. It's the stress from gravity on the weight of the structure and what it carries that does that. The heat simply reduces the stress the steel can carry.
