Agents from the FBI and IRS executed search warrants at the home and district office of Pennsylvania Senate Democrat Leader Robert J. (Bob) Mellow yesterday.
The feds were mum on what it was about and Mellow spokeswoman Lisa Scullin said the senator is cooperating with all request.
Mellow has represented the 22nd District since 1971.

Good news ping
I’m just mad about Saffron...
Quite Rightly
Mellow has represented the 22nd District since 1971

1971? I can understand why he got elected that year. A lot of folks were “mellow” back then.
Everytime PA is mentioned, Burris, Loop Enterprises (BO’s BIL and BF)and Philly’s pay to play comes into mind....Anyone know details of what’s going on here?
“Im just mad about Saffron...”
Took a bit, but I got the reference. Haven’t heard that song for a long time.
He’s in the PA State Senate. Is there anyway we can use this to our advantage, and the Dems disadvantage, in any of the elections on a National scale?
I’d make an issue of his pension which you can hit all who were incumbents back in ‘06 with. That’s a reality regardless of whether this raid leads to charges.
In other Pa. corruption news, Mike Veon the Democrat who represented the 14th District in the State House from 1985 to 2006 and achieved the rank of party whip, was sentenced, yesterday, to six to 14 years for his role in Bonusgate in which tax dollars were used by incumbents in both parties, albeit mostly by the Democrats, to fund re-election campaigns.
Ut, oh.........Mellow, in his 10th term, announced he would retire at the end of this year because (drum roll please) he wants to spend more time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Isn’t Mr. Mellow a good friend of Snappy Sammy Smoot?
He’s not the only one from NEPA retiring to spend more time with his family: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2489468/posts
