North Korea is continuing its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs in the Middle East, according to a new UN report.
The report for the UN Security Council stated that Pyongyang was intensifying exports of goods and technology for weapons of mass destruction programs in at least two Middle East countries.
"It has continued to provide missiles, components, and technology to certain countries including Iran and Syria and has provided assistance for a nuclear program in Syria, including the design and construction of a thermal reactor at Dair Alzour," the report by the seven-member panel said. The 47-page report, distributed to Security Council members in May 2010, said North Korea has succeeded in bypassing international sanctions imposed during the previous year.
The committee said Pyongyang, despite a ban on eight of its entities, was continuing to export missile and WMD components to Middle East states through third parties.
The UN panel investigated four alleged North Korean attempts to export missile and nuclear technology to Iran, Myanmar and Syria over the last year. The report, discussed in the Security Council on May 27, said North Korea was employing a range of fronts and methods to overcome sanctions.
"They use masking techniques," the report said. "[They employ the] use of multiple layers of intermediaries, shell companies, and financial institutions."
The techniques were said to include falsely describing or labeling the contents of shipping containers. The report said Pyongyang also falsifies the manifest and end-user.
Over the last decade, North Korea has become a leading strategic ally of Damascus and Tehran. Pyongyang was said to have transferred technology, expertise and personnel to ensure the production of the extended-range Scud C and D ballistic missiles in Syria and the Shihab-3 intermediate-range missile in Iran.

I’d sure like to see the political math equation that somehow always seems keep this clown-shoe dirt spot from getting the pummelling they so richly deserve.
Ping
It’s a source of hard foreign currency, not to mention influence.
I think it’s INCONCEIVABLE that the Norks would stop this.
Bitter story —SK exported north hundreds of tons of fertilizer. The Norks used the fertilizer to grow poppies, to make heroin for export..!!
Pure evil.
ping desu.
I’m not up on Asian politics, but the Chinese seems to enjoy that the Japanese are perpetually pissed off at North Korea’s long leash.
Godzilla vs. Monster Zero.
Go hard.

Why is our Gov’t so determined to get several million or more of us killed? The taxpayers have spent billion$ and billion$ on defense, yet Wash D.C. will not let this money be used to save American lives. Time to start giving some of our nukes to Bin Laddie and N. Korea,,,set to go off at about 2000 feet. Let the world know just who the hell they’re dealing with.
Oh, bet on it. There are still a lot of Chinese around that remember Japanese occupation.(Korean, too for that matter) They relish the fact that NK is a burr in Japan's butt.
