It is these kind of stories (BP) that just make me want to through my hands in the air and form my own country. One where things make sense, people behave and are civil to each other and hot fudge sundaes have no calories. That is not too much to ask, is it?
Nothing will get done other than to shove cap and trade down our throats using Deepwater as the impetus.

Hey GB! Check this out”

Electronic Armageddon (National Geographic Channel)

Comes on at 7 on Saturday night. I’ve been wanting to see that. Want to find out what a solar Electronic pulse, or one caused by a nuclear device high up in the atmosphere could do?

Oh, and you have mail!

I wish I had cable..that was the first casualty of the great layoff of ‘08. Thank heavens the unemployment numbers are soooooo much better now.
Anyway, lots of concern over this solar situation. Good thing we prepared for Y2k.

We prepared for Y2K as well. Learned a lot in the process. I was getting prepared again for - whatever happens - but with Mr S and his heart problems, we had to rely on a lot of that. We’re starting again. Every bit helps!

His pic line was removed today! No more IV! He’s feeling GREAT. All infection is gone. He sees the heart doc on the 28th and we’re hoping he gets cleared to return to work. He’s bored beyond belief!

Well, I’d best hit the sack. Lots to do tomorrow to get ready to leave on Sunday. I’ll be checking in though. Free Republic is an addiction!

Good news about Mr. Sneakers...that has been a loooong battle! A nice way to start summer for sure.
We still have stuff from Y2K-oil lamps and oil. Those come in handy during outages. That was an interesting time, and I miss the Y2K heads-up theme song.. “It’s the end of the world as we know it...but I feel fine!!” That and the Paula Jones...”Me-e-e-e-e-e-e and Mrs.....Mrs. JONES..”
Ahhhhh, the good days!!

lOL! I was thinking of the Y2K theme song just the other day - and Quinn & Rose’s determination to get the word out. Thank goodness, nothing much happened, but we learned a lot and we still have oil lamps as well. We love them and use them often. Did you know Walmart doesn’t carry them or the parts any more? At least ours doesn’t. I wanted to replace a broken chimney, and couldn’t find one. I hear Central Tractor carries parts. I’ll have to check it out.

Yes, those WERE the good days - except for Clinton in office of course. Actually, he looks pretty good about now! (I never thought I would EVER say that!)

Me, too!! I would far rather have Clinton and his uh...”peccadillos” than what we currently have. Hey, aren’t you camping this weekend?

We’re leaving tomorrow and will return Friday. Mr S will have to return to work (hopefully) in two weeks, if the doc gives permission, so we’re taking the opportunity to go since he feels good and we won’t have another chance this year.

We’re going to World’s End State Park. The “Year from Hell” will end (hopefully) in mid-July. That’s when all the bad luck started last year - Campsite mix-up (had to move campsite three times during last year’s vacation), dog bit son’s girlfriend, transmission went on truck - all in July, Mr S gets very sick in Sept., Mr S gets congestive heart failure in November, he gets pacemaker put in in March, he gets it taken out in April with massive infection, truck totaled in June.

What a year!
