Dozens of arrest were made as troublemakers in several locations threw rocks and bottles, set cars on fire, got into fights, and in some cases harassed motorists trying to leave the area, police said. As the crowds left the area, we had some groups that decided to celebrate irresponsibly, LAPD spokeswoman Mary Grady said.

Who do you mean by “we?”
Interesting how you just signed up a couple of days ago and now posting articles.... oooohhhhh.....
Yes, let’s rely on media sensationalism for the truth. What I saw last night was tame. Why shouldn’t people celebrate a victory?
There was a huge police presence. I saw them shoving and grabbing people for no reason I could see.
There were some jerks set a car on fire, etc., but most wanted to celebrate in a happy way.
Most of L.A. was classy last night... the percentage was pretty good.
What celebration was bigger, the Lakers, or Mexico beating France in the WC?
Exactly. They would have done the same thing if the Lakers had lost, and the media would have reported “fans letting their disappointment show in inappropriate ways.”
Last night, I was thinking of one of the biggest, most violent sports riots in U.S. history... the Detroit Tigers fans, back in the '70s or '80s, I think. Does anyone else remember?
Boy when we celebrated the Yankee championships in the late 70’s we ran on the field, grapped some turf, did some cartwheels and hugged each other....What a difference....
Did you see riots for the Stanley Cup winner?
These are people that are looking for an excuse to destroy and loot..
This is the society that Thomas Dewy liberal education has built... no one can read or write, but they can all express their feelings and frustration.. IT IS ALL ABOUT ME
I don’t believe you. People didn’t hug in the ‘70s, at least not baseball people. LOL!!!!
Kind of looks like Obama in the car.
I’m with you. Seemed like a pretty mild “riot.” The press just wants to sell papers.
Dig the tagline. Congrats!
Might as well finish the job.
Alcohol and mobs, a really stupid and dangerous combination.
Thank you. I saw a couple of dudes working out in the park while I was walking today. One was waving his Lakers hat at passing traffic, so he and I and his bud high-fived. I guess that was our “riot.” Haha... too bad the news people didn’t see it.
If only.
Exactly! Why waste any more effort with Los Angeles... just turn it into a Gaza strip.
Now THERE’s a surprise - not. LA joins Detroit and Chicago in the “celebrate with class” losers’ bracket.
I love my Spurs and my San Antonio. 4 championships, no riots.
