Dallas police release embarrassing footage of one of their own.
Dallas police say an intoxicated, off-duty officer discharged her weapon in a squad car while fellow officers were trying to take her home.
Officer Kelly Beemer was released from jail Thursday night after posting bond. She is charged with one count of discharging a firearm in a municipality.
Police said Beemer, a 27-year-old patrol officer, was at a Dallas bar Wednesday night while off-duty and was too drunk to drive. Two on-duty officers came to pick her up.
Investigators said Beemer got belligerent as officers were driving her to her east Dallas home.
Dallas police released on Thursday dashcam footage of the incident.
"This is what you've wanted," she can be heard saying on a dashboard camera video.
"To take you home?" one of the two other officers asks.
"To drive me out of my mind to where I have no [expletive] control, no control whatsoever. Isn't this what you wanted?" she can be heard saying.
Police said Beemer thought she was being take to jail. She pulled out her police-issued handgun and fired a single shot in the floorboard near the intersection of Gaston Avenue and Abrams Road, police said.
An officer can be heard on the dashcam footage yelling, "Kelly, drop the gun! Drop the gun! Drop it! Drop it!"
Police Chief David Brown said he is extremely disappointed by her actions, calling them "reckless and unacceptable."

Does she have any clothes on? Or is it just her underwear has on?
Drunker than Cooder Brown. Not good.
Correction: Or is it just her underwear she has on?
She’s wearing a light colored tank top.
I don’t know about Dallas police but I could tell a few tales on Harris County sheriffs and constables.
She shouldn’t have pulled her gun and shot, but that isn’t even seen, only heard and she was dead-azz drunk.
I wouldn’t put much past Harris County police, though... I wonder if the Dallas police are as bad.
Seems that she has more problems in her life than she can handle...she talked of being out of control...i would think her career is over.
Whoops. Sorry about the whole “discharging a weapon” thing... my bad.
One would certainly hope so. Gunpowder and alcohol definitely do not mix...
the infowarrior
She is lucky to be alive from my point of view.
I think the big disgrace here is that the police felt the need to drive her home...
Wow. This happened right down the street from me. After viewing the clip. I have to wonder where she was concealing her pistol?
And why might I ask. Did the uniformed officers not search and disarm her after finding out the was an officer?
They didn't see a problem whereas she did. They know her. They work with her. I'm sure they had respect for her as an officer even in that condition. They could not have imagined that she fire a weapon even if she had one. Nobody could have predicted that.
However, I agree with you. Anyone being put into the back of a police car under these circumstances should have been searched. That is just my opinion.
I kind of see both sides of the thing. Wouldn't it be ironic if the officers giving her a ride home get reprimanded for not searching her. I know that there are going to be BIG changes at that station because of this.
The whole thing is just a big shame, and her life in law enforcement is done, over, gone, kaput, forgetaboutit.
It's sweet that you believe that.
I think it's no harm no foul unless a civilian gets hurt (and sometimes not even then)
Too public now. They cannot salvage this one.
Just a courtesy offered everyone, yes? Maybe one of us little people would be arrested for public intoxication.
Anyone, including police officers, should face criminal charges when they are drunk and armed. That will never happen.
Interesting question, considering what she was wearing in the video?
“I have to wonder where she was concealing her pistol?”
Maybe an ankle holster. There’s all kinds of concealed-carry rigs.
Yup, to everything.
