I don't mind that. There were legit reasons for getting deferrments like going to college. I don't even mind that he went into the reserves to obviously avoid Vietnam. What I do mind is that 40 years later he wraps himself in the flag and in his service, lying about it and insinuating he was in Vietnam to further his political career. That's despicable.

I don't really care about deferments for legitimate reasons either. However, in his statement he said he wanted to serve - that's why he joined the reserves. Then why did he ask for any deferments? Why not simply join the reserves the first year?

He wants everything both ways. This man is the most despicable politician in CT - Dodd included.
