A new US Senate Bill would grant the President far-reaching emergency powers to seize control of, or even shut down, portions of the internet.
The legislation says that companies such as broadband providers, search engines or software firms that the US Government selects "shall immediately comply with any emergency measure or action developed" by the Department of Homeland Security. Anyone failing to comply would be fined.

Maybe he doesn’t plan on there being another Republican president.
Ok, there’s no need to bring any kind of logic or facts to their party. Just for that, your access will be one of the first cut off.
Out in open EMP would fry them. Put them in a waterproof container or bag, in a metal container filled with water, and buried underground till you need em .
All is good, says he, all is good. Worry not....the Feds will protect you!

If the First Amendment is taken, we’ll be forced to move on to the next Amendment.
They seem to be willing to take them all on - simultaneously.
I think you can prevent EMP damage by taking the batteries out for the duration of the EMP... if you want to be extra sure wrap it in aluminum foil, pack it in an air-/water-tight container (with your other SHTF [electronic] supplies) and keep it in a secure location.

The Internet was run on ham radios in Hawaii in the 1970s.
We could do it again.
Perhaps some things about this bill make sense. A few weeks ago Richard Clarke was on C-SPAN talking about how vulnerable the U.S. internet is to attack from foreign countries. He said that the Chinese have set up “drawbridges” on their internet so that they can isolate it from other countries. Russia has something similar. He said that the North Koreans have already launched a cyber attack on us using the Chinese. If a more serious attack was underway in a time of war, perhaps part of the internet would need to be shut down.

I wonder if they’ll “retroactively invalidate” your degree if you ever accepted a student loan... kinda like what they did with AIG and the Bailour-Bonus recipients.
How will I get my Swedish hot lusty video’s then?
Didn’t know that. My hubby is a Ham radio (extra license) operator.
