The American bishops are in de facto schism and have been for 30 years. Until Joe-Catholic wakes up to that fact and demands that the bishops tether themselves to Catholic teaching rather than Marxist philosophy, nothing will change.
The good news, in an ironic sense, is that no one pays any attention to the bishops anymore. Over half of them covered up priestly sex-abuse in one way or another, and they continue to stonewall the solid evidence concerning the corruption of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Word is slowly getting out via the internet. The fact is that the American bishops rank below used-car salesmen in terms of credibility.

The Bishop of Greensburg, PA pulled out of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, so there are some hopeful signs. They also don’t seem to realize how many potential lay volunteers are walking away because they don’t want to wade through reams of red tape to clear background checks because of sins committed by the priesthood.
