In a head-to-head with Attorney General Drew Edmondson, Fallin leads by 15 points. The poll predicts a 13 point win if she faces Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins.
There's only one guaranteed winner in the latest poll in the race for Oklahoma governor.
SoonerPoll predicted the likely match-ups and found Republican Congresswoman Mary Fallin is a favorite to win against either Democratic challenger.
In a head-to-head with Attorney General Drew Edmondson, Fallin leads by 15 points. The poll predicts a 13 point win if she faces Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins.
Fallin looks like a shoo-in in the Republican primary, leading her nearest challenger, State Senator Randy Brogdon, by almost 50 points.
The interest will be in the Democratic race where Edmondson and Askins are still running neck-and-neck. Edmondson is pulling 37% of the vote, while 36% of Democrats say they're backing Askins. But 27% are still undecided.
The SoonerPoll has a margin of error between 4-6%.
Good news: This lady's ahead of both Socialists in this poll, which isn't a surprise. Edmondson is the consummate crooked politician/AG, and Askins... I'm still trying to figure out how she got elected to anything except by horrible campaigning by Republicans the last two times.
Bad news: I don't know whether this is the same polling outfit that caused our last two Republican candidates to go totally complacent and blow it. (OTOH, they both probably wanted to go be lobbyists instead.)
More good news: State Senator Randy Brogdon, who says a lot of the right things but just ain't ready for prime time, appears to be way behind in the primary numbers.
Somewhat off topic, but is there any chance that Boren will finally switch to the GOP?
I think the dems plan to throw most of their support at Edmondson. Here’s a little tidbit for you. Last week, a guy called my husband wanting him to be part of a welcome home for Vietnam veterans to be held at the cap. bldg. It was obviously being thrown together to help Edmondson with his military themes, but typical of most dem ops, they didn’t have their act together. When dear hubby said he no longer had a uniform, they said, just show up in anything, it didn’t matter. When dear hubby still refused (it just didn’t smell right), they asked him if he knew of any other USCG retirees. Well, folks, Oklahoma has a lot of them, and the place to ask is one of the MANY USCG boards on the internet or at the USCG Institute. They just wanted to drag anyone in off the street to make Edmonson look good for a commercial.
Now, maybe we read it wrong, but like I say, it looked fishy to us.
I wouldn’t bet on it, and if he did, he’d just be another RINO.
