What are you talking about? You must be one brave soul. I've seen the aftermath of twisters. Not even a basement is shelter.
Of course, basements are not something we have in California. Something about quakes.
To each his own natural disaster I suppose. May you always be safe and never find yourself in the path of a tornado.
Usually you know when a twister/tornado is coming. You NEVER know with an earthquake. I’ll take neither, however.
Wow. Do people have this odd idea that somehow tornadoes just ravage the midwest?
In my 23 years living there (now in Texas, but same goes here), I never once saw a tornado.
Not once.
A funnel cloud, but that’s it.
We went into a warning at least once a year, but hardly ever for a confirmed tornado, just radar indicating one could drop at any time.
I don’t know anybody who has had their house struck by one, nor anyone who even has family impacted in a similar way.
The average tornado only goes for a few miles and is typically just a few yards wide.
An earthquake will devastate everything and kill many, a tornado will damage or destroy a small area in most cases and often doesn’t kill anybody even if it directly hits a town because of the advance notice.
You don’t get those with earthquakes.
I’ll take the twisters.
I live in NEBRASKA! I know something about tornadoes... I did not say they were a force to ignore... but they are a hell of a lot more easy to escape from than when the whole dang earth starts rocking, rolling and doing the jitterbug!
