Evangelicals bypassing Iowa race(more AP BS)

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An influential evangelical Christian group says it's standing by a pledge to sit out the governor's race this fall because neither of the major party candidates share its view on social issues.

The decision by the Iowa Family Policy Center is a blow to Republican Terry Branstad, who is relying on religious conservatives to be among the base of his support as he faces Democratic Gov. Chet Culver.

Danny Carroll, chairman of the Iowa Family Policy Center, has criticized Branstad for not giving greater emphasis to issues such as gay marriage and abortion. Carroll says in a statement released Monday it will take a "fundamental transformation" for the group to back either candidate.

Another powerful evangelical group, the Iowa Christian Alliance, supports Branstad.

Being a resident of eastern Iowa, I think this article is pure Bravo Sierra. There are ALOT of angry people here, while not thrilled with the prospect of Brandstad again, they are more pissed about culver and his ilk to sit this election out.

AP BS bilge.......and FUBO while we are at it

I live in W. Iowa(Council Bluffs) and I know that there are people here that would vote for Jeffery Dahmer or Ted Bundy over Chet.

I am in Cedar Falls, and being a transplant (3 yrs ago) to IA from Michigan, I am still not entirely up to speed on IA politics...I do understand that your neck of the woods is a bit more conservative than eastern IA, but there are a lot of conservatives here, too.

we are working hard already for our newly nominated GOP rep to unseat the commie Braley in November....gonna be a long, hot summer

Iowa is primarily “conservative(more libertarian)” with the exception of Polk County(Des Moines/Capitol), Story County(Ames/Iowa State University), Linn County(Ceder Rapids), Johnson County(Iowa City/University of Iowa) and Black Hawk(John Deere/UAW). Unfortunately all of the counties list comprise most of the population of the state.

These are the Mike Huckahillbilly suicide voters.

They are some of the dumbest people in Iowa. They gave us Jimmy Carter (he's born again!) and voted once for Pat Robertson (a televangelist!)and last year the Huckster (a wannabe televangelist!)

Even though I agree with them on all the social issues, they need to realize we cannot win advancing preachers and there is more to governance than gays and abortion - which the governor has little say over.

They need to work on changing people's hearts and not boycotting decent conservatives with a chance to win in a state that leans pretty liberal.

Hear Hear!

The average voter is NOT saying "I lost my job. I'm going to lose my house. I have no money to feed the kids and my unemployment ran out two months ago. But hey, at least the gays aren't marrying."

My personal opinion is the BVP people who won’t vote or won’t vote for Branstad is a small slice of the party, getting smaller - mercifully.
