Dino Rossi and Clint Didierthe anointed GOP candidate and the Tea Party candidate in the de facto August Republican primary going for the chance to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray in Novemberboth spoke and answered questions at a Tea Party event yesterday in Vancouver in advance of this weekends Republican convention there.
The Everett Herald has an excellent report:
Where Rossi avoided direct answers to most of the questions, Didier didnt, and his answers were what they wanted to hear.
For example, on whether each backed Arizonas controversial law dealing with immigrants, Rossi responded that the nation needs a tall fence and high gate to deal with those crossing into the country illegally.
Didier simply said, Yes maam, I am 100 percent behind it.
On whether to audit or ax the Federal Reserve, Rossi said audit then decide while Didier said, After we get done auditing it, we need to get rid of it.
The two differed sharply on whether the United States should leave the United Nations.
Rossi said the U.S. should be careful about a pullout and look to use its veto power to deal with other countries.
Didier said, I want the United States out of the U.N. and the U.N. out of the United States.
Moments after Didier departed, organizers revealed results of a straw poll of the race. To no ones surprise, Didier picked up 99 votes and Rossi had 12.
This would all be much more daunting for Rossi and the establishment party if delegates to this weekends convention were actually nominating a candidate. They are not.
We’ll worry about that after he beats Dino.
I do know it. Lived here almost my entire life.
“Didier will slaughter Murray. Murray beats milquetoast Republicans like a bongo. No such luck this time, Patty”
The only polling I’ve seen on the mater had Rossi in a dead heat with her. How does Clint poll?
“I do know it. Lived here almost my entire life.”
Then you do of course understand your uphill battle correct?
Who gives a crap. It’s the primary season. Worry about name ID afterwards. Just don’t vote for the guy who couldn’t handle Gregoire in a debate.
And that’s what it all comes down to especially with 0 in the WH. It’s a case of winning elections .
I also know that years like 2010 come around once every blue moon. Last time was 94.
It’s a good idea to worry about that now. If one of the two people that we are going to choose to run against the idiot currently holding the office does not poll even remotely close to her, what (other than wanting to lose) would be the reason of nominating him?
“worrying about that now” gives us RINOs or worse: losses. Watch Dino Rossi in a skirt (aka Fiorina) get destroyed by babs in CA.
You ain’t gonna get pissy if we nominate Clint and he loses badly to the idiot are you? Because I AM the type to say “I told you so.”
Not at all. He won’t lose, much less badly. But Rossi is already a proven loser.
I am excited about Didier in the Primary and that's who I will probably vote for in August, but if Dino Rossi wins then I have no problem supporting him for the November election.
your 2 cents?
Those have not, historically, played well among the general voting public -- they're the sorts of issues, indeed, that help to define right-wing whackadoodlery.
In any case, the answers aren't as simple as Didier's responses would indicate. His positions aren't very defensible against an opponent who has any sort of grasp of the intricacies of the actual issues. (Think of how badly Hannity gets creamed by liberal Congressmen when he attempts to defend such positions.... )
At worst, he can "shape" Dino's message.
At best, he can kick the beejeebers out of Dino and Lil' Patsty Murphy.
Don’t listen to Hannity. US out of the UN is music to my ears and so demonstrably easy to defend, I’m surprised even Hannity has a hard time with it. Or maybe not.
Another RINO endorsement by Sarah Palin, oh wait....
Cancel that.
I was on the Didier bandwagon long before Palin came aboard. Nonetheless, as I said when she announced her endorsement - “great move”.
So, now the rule is - if you’ve talked to the folks in the party (DeMint, Pence, etc.), you’re tainted. If you’re supported by the Republican party, you’re tainted & shouldn’t run for a seat as a Republican. All three candidates for the seat on the GOP side (Akers, Rossi, Didier) are good conservatives. Given that the field is equal, I want the one who can beat Murray.
Here’s another candidate of the same caliber as Didier (amazing campaign commercial):
