nder the current imperfect administration of the universe, most new ideas are false, so most ideas for improvements make matters worse. Given California's parlous condition, making matters worse there requires ingenuity, but voters managed to do so last Tuesday.

Actually, 8.9 percent of eligible voters did. By a margin of 54.2 percent to 45.8 percent, they passed Proposition 14, the Top Two Candidates Open Primary Act. Proponents outspent opponents 20-1. Of the approximately $4.6 million spent promoting the measure, $2 million came from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's political committee.

I predict the Democrats will control the election so that only Democrats will be the top two vote getters.

I read the proposition (and posted my views on it here on free republic a month or so ago) however, I suspect those that voted for it did not.

The only commercials I heard were supporting Prop 14 and with outright lies. It was touted as a way to get back at the politicians in Sacramento when in truth it was the policticians in Sacramento that came up with this proposition.

Well California, you voted for, you can live with it.

I have been thinking about leaving California for awhile (personal reasons are keeping me here) and as soon as I can I am out of here.

Open primaries (and this is the most open of them all) are a violation of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right of association, and in effect, the right to NOT associate with those whom you have no desire to associate with.

But then, right and wrong have no bearing on today’s version of the truth....
