Tea party, conservatives enliven WA GOP convention

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Outsiders are in among Washington state Republicans, with candidates who align themselves with the Tea Party and conservative causes getting long and lengthy ovations at the party's convention.

More than 1,200 delegates wrapped up the three-day meeting Saturday in Vancouver, hearing speech after speech castigating big government and Democrats, who hold power in both Washington, D.C., and Washington state.

However, the August primary and not party conventions will decide the candidates for November's general election.

Among those speaking were U.S. Senate candidate Clint Didier, who has the endorsement of Sarah Palin, and fellow Senate candidate Dino Rossi.

I noticed there was no mention of the key note speaker, Mitt Romney, who said at the convention: “The president has inexcusably lengthened and deepened the recession” with policies including the federal stimulus bill, health reform and proposed cap and trade legislation that could raise energy costs for all Americans.”

And,

“He [Obama] is totally out of his depth in dealing with a crisis. Instead of calling on experts from oil companies and academia around the world to help control the spill, Obama hasn’t even met with the president of BP. Instead, he’s trying to figure out who to blame.”

And,

“[Obama] went on Arab TV and said America has dictated to other nations! No, Mr. President, America has freed other nations. Our free enterprise system has lifted millions of people out of poverty!”

I would say that Mitt Romney gets it.

I would say that Mitt Romney gets it.

Gets what?

That he thinks he can say whatever is politically expedient in the moment?

There is nothing sincere or authentic about Myth Romney. He IS the proto-typical Political Chamelion.

He reminds me of a used car salesman. He says whatever it takes to sell the car.

Now I get it.

I will not be surprised if Romney wins the nomination in 2012.
He is out there helping scores of republicans to raise money and campaign for them. Those delegates at GOP convention might put him over.

However I am looking and wishing for a new face. Some one who has not run nationally and is a fresh face with fresh ideas. However if the economy is still bad in 2012, that helps Romney with his success resurrecting a failing Olympics and his huge success in private enterprise, and there is no politician out there who can match that, except Whitman & Fiorina.

I keep thinking of the health car bill he signed for the state of MA when he was governor. He’s also a professional politician and a hasbeen. Previous candidate for president and governor of MA, which has a failed health care system.

Good for you in bringing Romney’s remarks to our attention.

Mitt’s persona creates a public perception that will be hard to overcome with his message. I believe that some of his political actions while governor reinforce that perception. The way he delivers the message creates a feeling of skepticism. He could be repeating words from God and there is that something in the way he says it that generates disbelief and rejection.

People are looking for real change from the political status quo in Washington DC. Mitt Romney fits into the stereotypical persona of the business as usual crowd in Washington DC. He could change that by a change in the way he presents himself.

We need an ex-governor to rise up and shake up the political landscape. A governor will have executive experience that we see so lacking with Zer0. We need a governor from a large state who has dealt with the business world, knows energy problems and solutions, promotes Capitalism and will follow the Constitution. Sarah Palin fills that bill. A Palin-Romney ticket might be the perfect panacea to close the sale.
