The scale of the size of the house has changed over the years.
A working family of four used to think a house of 1000 ft2 was their dream and they wanted it paid off so that they could survive a layoff or strike at the factory. Somewhere along the line that became at 2500 ft2 house with vaulted ceilings and ac. Marble counter tops and a jazucci. We need to return to humbler less leveraged homes.
