Controversial US politician Sarah Palin could soon be on her way to Britain to boost her hopes of challenging Barack Obama in the 2012 US presidential election.
Her representatives approached Margaret Thatcher to ask for a meeting as part of a bid to enhance her claim to be the heir to Ronald Reagan and prepare to challenge Mr Obama.
And Lady Thatcher has agreed to see Mrs Palin, who stood as the Republican vice-presidential candidate in 2008. A spokesman said: We had an informal approach asking if Lady Thatcher would meet Mrs Palin if she comes to Britain and we said yes.

Any trip by Mrs Palin to Britain could cause potential problems for David Cameron.
Embarrassingly, Mrs Palins team have not contacted No. 10 so far.
One individual involved in the talks about the visit said: Palins people havent said anything about meeting Cameron. Their main interest is getting a picture of her with Lady Thatcher. Im not sure they know who David Cameron is.
It would also pose a delicate diplomatic protocol dilemma for the Prime Minister, who is trying to defuse an acrimonious confrontation with Mr Obama over the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
Outspoken Mrs Palin has launched a series of savage personal attacks on the US President.
Mr Cameron would have to decide whether to pose for photographs with her on the steps of No 10, invite her in through the back door or meet her elsewhere more discreetly.

Wouldn’t it be up to 10 Downing this time to invite her? Afterall she is a private citizen.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
MY TWO FAVORITEST LADIES EVER!!!
I have been of the opinion that Sarah wasn’t going to run but this story does give me pause.
I wonder if John O’Sullivan may have been involved in setting this up. He’s an admirer of Palin and he’s close to the Baroness...used to work for her.
Even more subtle a hint is in this line:
“Mr Cameron would have to decide whether to pose for photographs with her on the steps of Nbr 10, invite her in through the back door  or meet her elsewhere more discreetly.”
Palin’s influence and recognition abroad is so striking that the British Prime Minister is asking for an “unofficial” (not-very-hidden) meeting with her.
Her endorsement of Terry Branstad for governor here in Iowa, was a very strong sign to me she is running.
There was not a logical reason for her to do that; except to call in favors down the road in 2012.
Begad! That deuced, demmed, controversial Mrs. Palin! (Would they call 0bama controversial? I get into controversy with people about him all the time.)
The main leaders of the fall of the Soview Union:
Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul II
and Lech Walesa
Hillary’s “anointed” status wasn’t earned. It was a gift from the media and from Bill, over the years.
Sarah’s popularity comes from recognition by everyone that she’s actually done things. Because it’s not an artificial anointment, it won’t break easily.
The Brits can read: They know Mr. Obama is a one-term failure along the lines of President Carter and that Governor Sarah Palin is our next president. I don't think most of them are buying the hopium anymore.

Does No. 10 have any affiliation to MI 5, 007, or Dr No?
BTW SCP, Palin posted a note on her FB page today noting today was the anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s speech at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the “tear down this wall” speech. While FR was down, I watched it again at the link she posted. What a marvelous trip back in time.

Wayne Rooney?

You may be correct. Another Brit who lives here now
Nile Gardiner, Ph.D. who was part of the Thatcher adm.
Director, Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom
Nile Gardiner is Director of The Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom
could have also been a source
I would suggest that she should also try to schedule a meeting with Japan's best post-war Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi.
Great Pics!
Koizumi Rocks!
