Nope, this is a preemptive story to prevent the Saudis, and anyone else, from even thinking about helping Israel to snuff out the threat to the Saudis from a different faction of Islam in Iran.

Exactly. I think I read a story some time ago that Bush Sr had a deal with the Saudi’s in the lead-up to the first gulf war but the deal was contingent on the Bush administration not letting the cat out of the bag until after the invasion.
Incorrect. The Saudis have been in contact with Israel on this subject since about 1980.
