No, her husband could have divorced her and she was stuck paying child support she didn’t have the means to pay on a minimum wage job. I have seen people lose their drivers licenses when they fall behind on their child support, then they can’t keep a decent job because they can’t get to it putting them further behind. For her to be in jail over $2k means her ex must have really pushed the courts to get her there.

I think this may be a different situation. Child suppport payments go to the custodial spouse but child support reimbursement indicates a government entity paid out welfare for the kids and then determined that she obtained child support from the agency under fraudulent means. I bet the reimbursement is owed to the government, not the spouse. Just speculation.
