After he was charged with first-degree murder by a Peruvian judge, Joran van der Sloot got an earful today from an angry mob of people who yelled and threw objects at him as cops hastily transported the Dutchman to jail.

Lima Superior Court Judge Juan Buendia issued the order before dawn and the 22-year-old suspect was first taken with other prisoners in an armored truck to Lima's judicial palace, then alone to an eastern Lima prison where he will have his own cell in a segregated block.

“The aggravating factors are having acted with ferocity and great cruelty,” the judge said.

Police manhandled van der Sloot as they ushered him quickly out of the truck at into the judicial palace, a scarf around his neck and his hands cuffed behind him. Two officers pushed his head down.

"Disgrace!" and "Murderer!" angry onlookers yelled as van der Sloot was taken from the prosecutor's office where he had been held since Thursday. One person threw rotten lettuce.

I am just loving these pics! That guard looks like he is about to whistle loudly, and Joran looks like he may have slightly elevated blood pressure for some reason.

Not for this type of crime I’ve been told. The maximum is 35 years. Too bad ... he deserves so much worse.

I thought I read that murder committed during robbery carries a life sentence. Homicidio agravado, or something like that. He apparently stole cash she was carrying and her jewelry.

Col. Miguel Canlla, chief of homicide investigations, told the AP that Van der Sloot took off his shirt after strangling Flores and put it on her. He said the Dutchman wanted to put her body into a suitcase but couldn’t.

“He is cold, calculating and cynical,” Canlla said.

It’s ain’t his daddy’s Aruba! I heard that Joran said he would tell authorities what happened to Natalee if he could be sent back to Aruba.

I doubt that, since van der Sloot was already talking to the FBI before he came to Peru about where Holloway's body was. The FBI gave him about $25,000 (some directly and some to his bank account). I think he's already played that card ... LOL ...

Besides... the Peruvian authorities have already stated that they are asking about nothing else, other than the Stephany Flores murder. They don't care about what has happened elsewhere.

He did, and he apparently new of her poker winnings prior to the murder. This may be like felony murder in the usa, a murder committed during the commission of another felony, which usually gets the death penalty, however no such penalty exists in peru for this type of crime.

It seems like the judge who charged him was greatly angered by the nature of this crime, and as well he should be. Hopefully, when convicted, Slut gets the harshest possible sentence to be served in the harshest possible place.

Better to hang the little scum than allow him to barter knowledge of his other victims for reduced punishment.

They're not going to be hanging him in Peru. He could get a sentence anywhere from maybe five years to a maximum of 35 years ... and that's it.

I know the Peruvian authorities wouldn't give him the time of day on his trying to get back to Aruba. I just think it's typical of that a-hole to try and keep using one murder to get out of another murder. He is without a soul.

He will be protected. The world is watching.

Well, I can think of one good reason that he might be protected by the authorities in Peru. The US authorities have probably already talked to the Peruvian authorities that the US wants to get their hands on van der Sloot when he has finished his prison term in Peru -- and that they want to make sure that he's still around so that the US can convict him for what they've got in store for him.

http://www.rnw.nl/english/bulletin/aruba-public-prosecutor-not-informed-about-joran%E2%80%99s-statement

The Public Prosecutor on the Caribbean island of Aruba says he has not been informed by the Peruvian authorities about Joran van der Sloot’s admission that he knows where Natalee Holloway’s body is.

Van der Sloot is reported to have told Peruvian investigators this during his interrogation, on Thursday, about the death of Stephany Flores. Ms Flores was recently found dead in a Lima hotel room booked in the name of Van der Sloot. Ms Holloway disappeared on Aruba in 2005.

Taco Stein, the Aruban Advocate General, said on Friday afternoon that he heard of Van der Sloot’s admission via the media and not through official channels. He said he had tried every means possible to make contact with the Peruvian authorities, in a bid to gain more clarity before further steps were undertaken.

“He’ll be dead withing 6 months.”

A little too late for the girls though.

Yep!

But even if he is segregated from the general population for a while, his life is going to be a living hell. He will wish he were never born.

The only other two prisoners on the block are a reputed Colombian hit man charged with murdering a Peruvian businesswoman and a provincial mayor charged with laundering drug money

That's a bunch of "baloney" from Aruba ... LOL ...

Aruba knew exactly that Joran van der Sloot said he knew where the body was, when the FBI went down to Aruba, met with van der Sloot and gave him money for that information...

The Arubans were involved in that one, too ... They are a bunch of liars...

This is all "subterfuge" on the part of the Aruban authorities, since they were working with the FBI earlier and since they knew that van der Sloot gave information about where Holloway's body was.
