LOL ... the Peruvian authorities were mistreating him with kindness... you mean. They gave him all he could eat, steak whenever he wanted it, cigarettes for as much as he wanted to smoke ... and treated him super nice...
He had a Dutch Embassy representative there for all the questioning (and did the translating) and he had his own attorney there for all the questioning.
I think you got the wrong information there ... :-)
