You mean like Carl Levin trying to earmark highway funds to save Tiger Stadium?

If you want a government funded and controlled project then you have to live with the politics. The highway fund has not covered the full cost of building and maintaining the interstate for about ten years. The interstate system is in the same place that the railroads were at 50 years ago. Over-expansion with too many bridges and roads that need repair and replacing. The difference is that railroads were private companies. I say sell the interstate to private investors and let them maintain and operate them. Some highways will be deemed to be too costly and abandoned. Let the market place decide.
