So, Pat is saying that Palin is more about her own personal election chances than the good of the country?

(McCain always said I was an agent of intolerance - but in 2008 those like me tolerated him most)

No Pat is saying that Palin is choosing her endorsements wisely while never sacrificing her principles. when it is required to risk to get her message across she risks it. Like Haley and houffman. when she can get her message across without much risk she does that also like in IW. Palin is not going to back a loser just to be “pure” She has not backed any candidate that does not at least campaign on her core issues. Pro-life, pro-gun, pro-military, small limited government.
Pat is saying that Palin unlike any other politician lately is fusing her message and her ambition so that both can be advance at the same time without any damage to either.
From listening to Palin she feels the message is the most important thing. However if she can advance that and advance herself she does so. when she can not she chooses to advance the message instead.

So, Pat is saying that Palin is more about her own personal election chances than the good of the country? Who says that they are mutually exclusive?

So, Pat is saying that Palin is more about her own personal election chances than the good of the country? He doesn't even hint at that. All he's saying is her ability to set the stage for a run at the republican nomination has been excellent.
He destroys those great intellects who call her a quitter, and reminds them she's in the drivers seat at this point.
The only problem I have with his points is who is making them........:-)
