And you base your conclusion on the fact that Rush invited Elton John to perform at his wedding?
There are people on both sides of the political spectrum that have become so calcified in their positions. Everything to them is an absolute and in that way there truly is no difference between them. Their hatreds have ossified their minds and their souls.
I am going to use an example here of this.
My sister is an fundamentalist Christian married to a very conservative pastor. Her daughter “came out of the closet” and she did not speak to her for over 10 years. Her religious beliefs had ossified into hatred “justified” by every bible quote that I am sure some posters to follow will no doubt toss at me. It was a shame because her daughter is bright and a very good hearted person who except for her “sin” behaves and acts much more in tune with what Jesus taught then many a “good Christian” does.
I pointed out to my sister one day that she is behaving just like the Pharisees did in their condemnation of Jesus-they condemned him for not obeying the “laws” set down in the bible-from “working on the sabbath” and breaking other religious laws to the people he associated with and defended. We got into a full blown argument about that complete with dueling bible passages and afterward she did not talk to me for about a year. After that year she all of a sudden finally called her daughter and made up with her and she called me too. What happened? She said she realized that I was right when I told her that she could hate the sin but love the sinner because that is what Jesus did. If Jesus had followed the strict dictates of the “laws of G_d” as laid out in the Old Testament and Talmud Christianity would have been nothing more then an obscure Jewish cult because it would have not allowed anyone who is not Jewish into it.THAT is what Jesus came to earth to change-the ossification of the mind about who and what G_d is and what He demands from us.
