Waiting for the flood of idiots to come onto the post complaining about how evil a private, Christian school is for holding its employees to certain moral standards.
Oh please enlighten us as to what “christian” principal was upheld here.
Really wish these institutions acted so swiftly when their teachers are caught screwing around with their students.
The release of private information does not seem authorized. The school may have a problem on this issue.
The school’s policy is stupid in this situation. She may win her case because of the pregnancy. She will at least have the sympathy of the jury.
Yes, it is amazing the number of idiots on here who will chastise a Christian school for maintaining Christian values.
My kids go to a private Christian school, and I think the school was wrong to ask. If she was 4 months pregnant and unmarried, then I think the school has grounds, or if she was living with a boyfriend out of wedlock.
Plus, she’s married and handling the situation responsibly.
Let’s not forget that all have sin and fallen short of the glory of God.
I’d love to know how many of them were virgins on their wedding night.
This case has two parts in all actuality:
On the job issue, the School wins, it is a private employer and she signed a morals clause. She violated the clause and it was within their rights to fire her.
However, the School violated HIPAA laws when it revealed private medical information and the reason for her firing. For that they should be held liable for her defamation and be held criminally for violating the law.
Hey, when you’re without sin, you can cast all the stones you want! Woohoo!
Because none of the other people at the school had ever had sex before marriage, nor committed any other sins.
It would seem to me that a Christian school would recall the time that Jesus challenged the Pharisees to cast the first stone. If the article is to be believed, it appears that the admin of this school are the sort who would have taken it upon themselves to start the festivities.
Interestingly, this article does seem to include all of the salient facts, including an unambiguous statement by the school.
Whether the stated reason is merely a cover for other employment issues is, of course, quite possible. But for them to have taken such an inquisitorial tone .... doesn't seem very Christian to me.
But if you ask me, I think the teacher is well shut of that place.
