EPA and the “National Contingency Plan” Did any of you know that the US supposedly has a National Contingency Plan for dealing with very large oil spills? And that EPA has legal responsibility for maintaining readiness for such an eventuality? Who knew? I’ve watched hours of coverage and this hasn’t been mentioned anywhere. The National Oil and Hazardous Substances Contingency Plan Act was signed into law in 1994 (superceding previous legislation that went back to the 1969 Torrey Canyon oil spill.) Laws and regulations are collated here. The EPA has an online book describing the National Continency Plan.

i don't see bp surviving this - if i were king of bp, i’d buy an hour of time on every network and cable channel in primetime and give the world some facts to include:

read this post to explain the their beloved god/government has control of this oil spill and is failing them

i’d sell every asset to another oil company for any price i could get

i’d announce employee bonuses and stock dividends equal to every asset bp owns

dissolve the company

tell the people ‘good luck’ with the idiot that claims he is in charge

buy an island in the exumas

renounce citizenship

encourage every american based oil company to move to dubai

encourage the oil companies to do exactly what the 52%ers accuse them of: stick it to the americans and cause oil to reach $400/bbl

explain to the 52%ers that while their dear leader demonizes oil, he sucks down scads of it to fly airforce one for ‘date nights’

and just to really cheese off the 52%ers, say that the first lady is a fat, ugly cow that dresses ghetto and comports herself the same way

somewhere i’d throw in a lament that the country has fallen from the greatest generation to the snotnosed, psychobabble 52%er generation that would elect dear leader

the parting shot would be me and a hawt conservobabe boarding my gulfstream g550 saying ‘capitalism, baby’
