Assistant AG: Blumenthal lied about Vietnam

An assistant attorney general in Richard Blumenthal’s office has sent a letter to the New Haven Register and other news media claiming that Blumenthal lied to him as long as 20 years ago about serving in Vietnam.

Richard R. Hine of New Britain sent the letter, titled “A Marine’s Apology to Vietnam Veterans and their Families,” which the Register received this week.

He writes that Blumenthal offered his private number to Hine and his daughter Allison when Hine, a Marine reservist, was called up to Operation Desert Storm, knowing that Hine was going through a divorce.

“His act of kindness and compassion to my daughter and me I will never forget, and I am deeply indebted to him for life. We then talked about my possibly going to Iraq if the war went poorly. …

“He then said, you’re a Major, and so it will be a little different for you than it was for me as an enlisted Marine in Vietnam. I was appalled and shocked, because I knew he had not been to Vietnam, yet just a moment before he had helped to console my daughter in an unsolicited act of kindness,” Hine wrote.

“I have been torn for twenty years about that conversation and what it tells me about his character.

“Periodically, I would hear him repeat the statement that he served in Vietnam. He didn’t ‘misspeak’ or ‘misstate’ to me face-to-face twenty years ago and he hasn’t to veterans and the press in subsequent years — he lied.”

The letter, which is not dated, does not give specific dates for the conversations Hine describes. Hine was not available early this afternoon to comment on it.

It's ok that he lied...in democrat circles that's considered a plus...which is evidenced by his being ahead in the polls. Democrats have no morals.

I don’t think this will matter either.

I care less about his lies than his anti-Constitutional agenda. I’m very concerned about his lies, though.

He’s rotten commie scum, and shouldn’t be allowed to vote as he’s a treasonous bastard, never mind hold any elected office.

People here in CT are just stupid to allow him near any public office.

I had an intersting experience that lasted almost 10 years about a former Marine Reservist who lied about his Vietnam Service. During my second career following retirement from the Army, I had a Security Chief working for me who claimed Vietnam Service in the Marines. Because I had served two tours in Vietnam, I would periodically ask him questions about his time in country. His answers were not only vague, but often times could not have been true. He was kind of a “macho guy” who tried to play the tough guy role. Over a period of time I concluded he could not have served where he said he did, After some time, I had someone do some record checking and found he had been in the USMC Reserves during the Vietnam war, but had never served in Vietnam. I thought long and hard about confronting him with this, but decided against it. He was very effective in his job and his “fantasies” weren’t harmful to anyone. He had a fine family and I decided embarrassing him would serve no purpose. To this day, I wonder about that decision, but it was one of those “no harm”, let it go situations.

But the pinheads of Connecticut will still elect this ahole to the Senate as the Rasmussen poll shows. There’s a state I will never visit that it is so knee-jerk Democrat it votes for a fascist brute like Blumenthal, a guy who abuses his office as AG on a regular basis but then also lies about his bio. abusing the service and sacrifice of real Vietnam vets by claiming to be one of them. Hey Connecticut, GFY!

Spend 30 minutes in the Newington, CT Walmart and you’ll understand why he isn’t worried about the lies.

I am so frustrated by my state to elect this guy who is rated the bottom 50th in AG'S! Even the casino's are not hiring anymore. Gas is over $3 bucks and now will have a Senator who lies as much as the president. We are so screwed CT.

Lying isn’t considered a bad thing by RATS when they do it.

I've heard some stories about the New Haven store. The store in Newington is the most amazing Walmart I've ever been in. Nothing but human debris in the place doing everything possible to trash it. I would guess 90 plus percent of them are on the public dole.
